Parenting From The Light

As children, we are like a bright light, beaming and glowing with life. The Source of our light is pure positive energy. In between our light and our Source is a dimmer switch called our mind. With our mind, we regulate the amount of energy that flows through us by controlling the thoughts we choose. When we choose positive thoughts, our switch is opened, which allows more of our Source energy to flow through us, which we then experience as positive emotions. When we choose negative thoughts we lower our switch, which in turn restricts the amount of our Source energy that flows through us. As a result, we function with less energy, which we then experience as negative emotions. Our power comes from being the only one with control of our dimmer switch, hence our emotions and lives. By consciously choosing our thoughts and beliefs, we control the amount of energy we function with. When we choose a thought that makes us feel angry, worried, shameful, resentful, fearful, or guilty, whether we do it consciously or unconsciously, we restrict our Source energy from flowing through us. This in turn decreases our power to create what we desire in life. Whenever we choose a thought that makes us feel love, joy or grateful, whether we do it consciously or unconsciously, we raise our energy level. This then gives us the power to create what we want in life. You can tell by how you feel if you are lowering or raising your switch. When you allow more of your Source energy, you experience clarity, confidence, enthusiasm, and creativity. When you lower your energy, you become depressed, confused, overwhelmed, or fearful. The problem began when we were children. Our parents constantly focused our attention on what we could not do. This in turn lowered our switch, which dimmed our Inner Light as children. This lack of energy left us feeling powerless over our lives as adults. This process occurred gradually growing up. We were unable to see that our light, at best, has become poorly lit. Then from that place of powerlessness, we try to parent powerful children of the Light. That is why many of us struggle with parenting What we in essence are saying to these beings of Light is to step out of the Light and into darkness. We do this by saying, "I've been around a lot longer than you have. I know better than you do. You better listen to me!" This statement is true because we do know more, since we have learned how to disconnect from our Source energy with fear, anger, jealousy, hate, and shame. However, we do not know better because we are the ones standing in darkness. The difference between where our children stand and where many parents are, is night and day. Then with the type of effort put forth by loving and well-meaning parents with bad information, tries to bring our children to where we are. We do this by passing on to them our old fear-based thoughts and beliefs. We do this by shaming and punishing our children into compliance when they do not meet our expectations. In other words, we emotionally beat them by sending them negative energy through our thoughts, words, or actions. As our children struggle to maintain their connection to their Source, they rebel against their parents. This causes them to disconnect anyway. It is a lose/ lose situation for most of our children. A child that grows up to live a life of disconnection, or low energy, does not mean they will become gang members or drug addicts, although many do. There are many other signs that suggest a life less than power-filled. A few are depression, low self-esteem or just the inability to succeed with life itself. To become more effective parents, we must come back home. We must return to the Light, by becoming child-like again. A child has no hate, anger or fear in his heart. In the words of the Master Jesus, "Come to me as children," or "Only children will be allowed into the kingdom of heaven." How can a parent do this? I personally do it by looking at what I believe, think, and feel. I work on letting go of my fears. I forgive others and myself. I do not allow guilt and shame to influence my life. I focus on the positive things in life, regardless of how small it is. I intentionally look for reasons why I should feel grateful, joyful and love. I release all self-defeating thoughts and words, and replace them with ones that connect me to my Source. In doing so, I raise my switch, which in turn gives me the power to live a light-filled life and the energy to parent my children by example. Because it is our examples that will teach our children anyway.
